An interesting development has popped up today, thanks to THQ Partners, Denver-based developer IllFonic and Machinima. Way, way back in Ye Old 2001, a company named Alien Trap made a modification for Quake 3 called Nexuiz, a fast-paced shooter that garnered over 5 million downloads and is a pretty common pack-in with Linux distros. Today, Machinima and THQ announced that the title would be getting a revamp and reimagining for XBLA, PSN and Steam, and on Crytek’s CryENGINE 3 no less.
Nexuiz’s unique mechanic this time around is the idea of Dynamic Mutators – 100 different factors that can alter the laws of physics themselves, from the sounds of this press release I’m looking at. It’s planned to be a $10 title, so I guess we really can’t grumble too much about it. There’s an announcement trailer and a handful of screenshots beyond the jump, and you are more than welcome to LOOK AT THEM (or something). It certainly looks good.
I hope THQ doesn’t hate us for putting that video on our YouTube account.
